Our tour began in the beautiful Slovenian capital city of Ljubljana! We spent two days here exploring the neighborhoods and architectural riches. From there, we traveled a short drive to Slovenia's Julian Alps and witnessed the beauty of Lake Bled, before a mountain-pass drive to the breathtaking Soča River Valley. Our final day in Slovenia was spent in Kobarid touring a WWI museum and enjoying local food together.

Slovenia

Ljubljana (Day 1-2)

Our walking tour through the heart of Ljubljana led us through winding canals, colorful buildings, and ornate bridges. Ljubljana is also known for its lively outdoor markets, where you can sample delicious local cuisine, pick up handmade crafts, and interact with friendly locals. The afternoon and evening were ours to explore the city and enjoy the outdoor cafés along the river.

Lake Bled (Day 3)

Lake Bled was a stunningly beautiful lake nestled in the Julian Alps of Slovenia. With its crystal-clear turquoise waters, idyllic island, and dramatic mountain backdrop, Lake Bled was truly a feast for the eyes. We hiked up to one of the many scenic viewpoints and then took a leisurely stroll around the lake's perimeter.

Soča River Valley (Day 3)

The Soča Valley is famous for its emerald-green waters, dramatic gorges, and soaring mountain peaks. The winding mountain drive left us with breathtaking views and picture-perfect moments.

Kobarid (Day 4)

Kobarid is known for its rich history, having played a significant role in World War I, as depicted in Ernest Hemingway's novel "A Farewell to Arms". We learned about this history at the Kobarid Museum, which tells the story of the war and its impact on the town and its people.

Karst Wine Tasting (Day 4)

We enjoyed a local-style lunch together, sampling the tasty pršut (prosciutto) and award-winning wines at Boris Lisjak Winery. From there, we followed Slovenia's small slice of Adriatic Coast on our way to the rolling hills of Croatia's Istrian Peninsula.
